It’s natural for senior citizens to think they need to visit the chiropractor, physiotherapist or doctor each time they are in pain. More often than not, they are left disappointed by the outcome of their visit.
We must understand that each of these professions have different focus in medical health. The work of a physiotherapist differs from the work of a corrective exercise specialist. A physiotherapist generally focuses on trauma cases, i.e. post-surgery, post-accident, tendo strain/ligament sprain, etc.
A corrective exercise specialist works on musculoskeletal imbalances due to lifestyle and certain prolonged postures due to gravity and kinetic force.
I am unable to help any client without first meeting up to understand the problem and to do an assessment. There are no ‘pre-set programs’ because every individual has unique needs, goals and health conditions.
Healthier senior citizens who have little or no issues with mobility or flexibility should still work on maintaining their fitness status quo to continue indepentdant living into their golden years.
